NOTE: I have stopped working on this dictionary as
a written text (it would just be far too many web pages). To make it much easier for you and to cut
in third the amount of text I need to type, I am working on an interactive dictionary where all you
will need to do is enter a word to be defined and a definition will be returned to you. The data
base I'm creating will be over a thousand pages long; I am compiling from five different
dictionaries and from the glossaries of several texts to create a complete dictionary, so it will
still take me a few months to complete.

The next page contains several quick reference charts of over 400 Lakota words for
common subjects. Also on this page, there are sound clips of spoken Lakota to aid you. The Lakota
Kinship System page also contains Lakota/English and English/Lakota dictionaries for all
relationships, so important to Lakota speech and custom. And, of course, all through this web site
I use topic-specific Lakota vocabulary which is translated within context and incudes several hundred
more words.
The Lakota Grammar section is now complete, with much helpful information on sentence
construction with many helpful guidelines and examples of Lakota language structure. There are also
several lists of verbs with their definitions.
