| Comments: | My parents live on land near the Olentangy River in central Ohio. There has long been Indian spiritual activity there--they protect the land, my parents, their home. A photo of Chief Red Cloud sits in a prominent position as though he watches over all. My visits there inspire me to learn more. am on a path to gather more information to help tell your story. Thank you for this beautiful website. |

I keep hitting bricks and wishing for mountains. My knuckles are sore but my spirit is strong..I am hoping you can point me in the right direction, I donate, although the foster home my siblings' experienced now belongs to a online organization, that refuses my calls.. can you help? |
| Reply: | I am not sure what type of help you are seeking. I traced your grandfather to Allen, South Dakota from an address on the back of his childhood drawing at Aurora University (circa 1935) online at http://www.aurora.edu/museum/montgomery-archives/index.html#axzz2NwTSCcnV. Tribal jurisdiction should be Oglala Sioux Tribe of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Contact information for the Tribal Office of the Attorney General is "Office Of Attorney General, E Highway 18, Pine Ridge, SD 57770". The phone number to the office is (605) 867-2095. The office should be able to help you with legal advice/assistance in contacting the foster care organization. ~Šung'manitu-Išna |

| Comments: | "It is through mysterious power that we have our being, and we therefore yield to our neighbors, even to our animal neighbors, the same right as ourselves to inhabit this vast land."
"Warriors are not what you think of as warriors. the warrior is not someone who fights, because no one has the right to take another life. The warrior, for us, is one who sacrifices himself for the good of others. His task is to take care of the elderly, the defenseless, those who can not provide for themselves, and above all the children, the future of humanity."
~Tatanka Iyotanka (Sitting Bull)
“The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize at the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit, and that its center is really everywhere, it is within each of us.”

| Comments: | Hello my friends. I am from Slovenia, a small country in Europe that used to be a part of former Yugoslavia. I just stopped here to tell you how happy I am to meet you. This page is like a treasure to me because as long as I can remember I felt Native American way of life as the only good way and I am amazed by the amount of information I got here. There is always so much to learn! I've been learning about Native American people and their love for life and for our Mother Earth and their faith and courage. The wisdom and the knowledge of Lakota people will surround the world, I am sure of that. And maybe that is the only way we can save our World. To get down to the bases and start again from there with love and frienship holding hands. No matter what the color of your skin is and how much money you have. And when we could see each other as they really are, we would learn that we are all the same!
Love from Slovenia. Mitakuye Oyasin! |

| May 1, 2012 15:37:49 (GMT Time) |
| Reply: | See my Lakota Spirituality Section, Sacred Numbers page at http://1onewolf.com/lakota/spirit1.htm; a story is related in which the old Lakota envision the state of affairs of the current universe as one symbolized by a buffalo literally on its last legs. In the story, the buffalo starts out with four legs and thick hair. Over time, the buffalo begins to lose its hair and ultimately three of its legs. It is towards the bottom of the page. ~ Šung'manitu-Išna |
